Making Your Pizza Low Or No-Carb

by Zachary Castro

Folks on a diet generally find pizza hard to resist. No matter how disciplined you are, a whiff of a hot pie can make you throw out the chicken breast and chow down. The good news is that even people on a low-carb diet can enjoy pizza. You may have to be creative, but it can be done.

Toppings

Many pizza toppings are low carb. Think of all the meats and cheese you can add to a basic pizza to fulfill all your protein cravings. If you want to stick to low-fat proteins, you can do that as well, with chicken or ham as your meat. You can add lots of parmesan cheese and extra sauce to make your toppings delicious, protein-laden, and low fat. Enjoying pizza toppings while on your low carb diet is not that challenging. The real issue is the crust.

Crust

If you are going no-carb, you cannot eat crust at all, but many people are on a low carb diet. If you are trying to minimize carbs, go for the thinnest crust available. Obviously, you need to eliminate pan crusts, hand-tossed crusts, and even "regular" crusts. Get the thinnest one out there covered with healthy proteins to stay true to your diet. If you truly want a no-carb pizza, you can pull the toppings off of the crust and enjoy them that way.

Special Order

Some pizzerias will create a low carb or crustless pizza for you if you ask. These items are frequently not on the menu, but many pizza masters are accommodating. You can also target places that offer special carb-less pizza crusts. One place creates a crust from cheese, eggs, almond bits, and flour. It's delicious, healthy, and won't blow your diet. If you are a dedicated dieter, you no longer have to avoid one of the most delicious foods around. Pizza can be healthy if you take the time to find places that will accommodate your low or no-carb preferences.

Dieting is always hard, and giving up many of your favorite foods makes it almost impossible at times. Luckily, pizza does not have to be one of the dishes that you avoid. You can make healthy topping and crust choices at home and while eating out. If you do not feel deprived while you are dieting, you are much more likely to stick to your eating plan. Do a little research and then go out and have a delicious slice or two without guilt. For more information, contact your local pizzeria (like Calgary Pizza by Wasim's Donair & Pizza).

About Me

A Red Velvet Christmas

Before marrying my amazing husband nine years ago, I had never baked a cake in my life. At our wedding shower, one of my beloved aunts gifted me with several types of cake pans including three single layer ones. Never one to waste a gadget, I anxiously stirred up my first desert, a towering rich red velvet cake, with my new cake pans. Since baking this first cake, I’ve become known around my community as an expert red velvet cake baker. Around Christmas time, I always get requests to make this tantalizingly delicious dessert. One of the secrets to my success is adding an abundant amount of liquid to my batter in the form of oil and buttermilk. On this blog, you will discover the other ingredients needed to have your own red velvet Christmas this year.
